DJ Sammy, Sasha, Carl Cox, Judge Jules, Chris Moyles, Jo Whiley, Tony Blackburn, George Martin, Quincy Jones, to name but a few. All of these names are massively famous in music, but only a couple of them were actually musicians. Music Technology (in various forms) has been around for over 140 years and though it's countless inventions, it's done wonders for the world; from bringing music into your home, right up to giving anyone the ability to create their own, whom at one time, would have had to have studied their entire life just to develop the ability. Gone are the days when music was only recorded by pen and paper; because as with everything in our lives today, Computers give us the ability to do what we otherwise would not be able to, and easily.
You might be interested to know that I didn't get into Music Technology because I was a musician, but I BECAME a musician through Music Technology. Like most children, at school I attempted to learn the Recorder, Violin (etc.,) only to find out that a) it was far more difficult than I originally imagined, and b) my own practising sounded awful, and it bored me to tears. When I was 11, I picked up the Guitar (which I enjoyed as I could actually make it sound like a tune) but when I was 12, I got my own computer. It was on this computer that I dabbled around and eventually found I could write and record my OWN songs, and not just play other people's all the time, and I could even record instruments I had no idea how to play!
If I hadn't started using Music Technology, it's likely I would have dropped the Guitar like every other instrument before it, and never picked it up again. Music Technology eventually lead me to do all the things I dreamed of, and I want to share all the knowledge and happiness it gave me with others.
